The Shchors Film Theater was
opened in 1939, but it was destroyed during the Second World War. The
rebuilt film theater was opened in 1947. In the 1950s, concerts and
evening dances were held in the cinema. In 1958, the high-resolution
motion picture film format was introduced in
The Shchors Film Theater. After
the reconstruction in 1962, two halls for 560 and 70 seats were added.
The Shchors Film Theater has been closed since 2017. In 2021,
it was transformed into the Chernihiv Regional Youth Center. The
building was planned to be restored and turned into a Hub of social
partnership and institutional development. The building is an
architectural monument of local importance. In 2022, it was partially
destroyed
by the Russian army.
