Laboratory of Optoelectronic and Thin Films

The Laboratory of Optoelectronic and thin films ("LOFF", Laboratório de Optoeletrônica e Filmes Finos, in portuguese) is a research group focused on using semiconducting polymers to develop new technologies for applications in organic sensors, circuit parts and green energy.

Research areas

Structure-property relation of thin films

Working with several films fabrication techniques: Langmuir-Blodgett, Langmuir-Schaefer, Spin-coating, Drop-casting and Pysical vapor deposition, we are able to study and analyze these films chemical and physical properties.

Gas and Piezoeletric sensors

Mostly using semiconducting polymers the group produces chemiresistors for the detection of Volatile Organic Compounds or that will change its conductivity according to the pressure applied.

Photovoltaic Devices

In the context of the renewable energy sources, we work with organic materials to develop solar cells which will be, not only an alternative source of energy, but also a component that even in the end of lige it will not harm the enviroment.
