Raven is often associated with loss and ill omen in majority culture.
Yet its symbolism is complex.
In Japan, the appearance of Raven is construed as evidence of the will
of Heaven or divine intervention in human affairs.
It brings hope & fortuneto human with its wisdom & symbolism
of Sun.
This is the story about how Yatagarasu - the 3-legged Raven led
Emperor Jimmu to conquer the kingdom to the east.
The symbolism impacts the long history of Japan -
You can see Raven appears on significant cultural art pieces from
pre-war Japan and in post-war Japan one can see it in select shrines
in Nara Perfecture.
I pick my name back in the days when I visited a shrine in
Nara, Japan long time ago..
Weird as it was, I had a warm, protective feeling at that time looking
at the acient painting with a Raven feeding her pals.
By then I wish I have the ability & power to bring positivity to
people around me. In real life, other than the quirky part, I'm more a
penguin than a raven.
