MONASH FORGE

Inspiring a generation of makers for a sustainable future

Monash Forge is one of the first Material Science and Engineering (MSE) representative Student Project Team based at Monash University Clayton Campus. The team was founded late November of 2018, with the objective of providing students with opportunities to cultivate both fundamental practical and soft skills sought by industry via team engagement and inspire drive for sustainable manufacturing processes. With goals of achieving quality, spreading education, and inspiring sustainabile engineering practices, Monash Forge developed Business, Forging and Foundry sections that operate activities that contributes towards these goals.

As part of their mission, Monash Forge offers half day Forging and/or Casting Summer Workshop every year. These workshops are open both students and the public alike, and takes participants through the process and material science behind small scale recycling thorough the fun of casting or forging their own metal trinket.
Last year's Summer Casting Workshop patterns included:

  • Star Wars Death Star Christmas Bauble
  • Pokémon Shiny Ditto Lucky Paper Weight
