Bookbinding is an ancient craft that has been derived throughout the ages.
It has become a specialized trade that relies on the basic operations of
measuring, cutting, sewing, and gluing. It combines skills from a
multitude of other crafts, like fabric and papermaking and graphic arts.
Modern bookbinding by hand can be seen as two closely allied fields: the
creation of new bindings, and the repair of existing bindings. Hand
bookbinders create new bindings that run the gamut from historical book
structures made with traditional materials to modern structures made with
21st-century materials, and from basic cloth-case bindings to valuable
full-leather fine bindings.

After a decade dreaming of something to do with my hands, I finally took
the plunge into bookbinding. I specialize in casebound books, but enjoy
experimenting with coptic and secret Belgian bindings as well. From start
to finish, all of the designs I create are 100% from scratch and can be
tailored to exactly what the customer is seeking. You can learn more about
the different styles I can provide by subscribing to my mailing list!
